It's to the actors incredible talent that Guy Pierce and Russell Crowe both pulled off the roles of two American police officers in the 1950's. Both men, up until then, were virtual unknown actors....from Australia. Curtis Hansen was enough of a fan of each of the Aussie actors that he fought with studio execs to allow both of them in lead roles.
They never tell you until you leave the theatre! After all the credits have run, there is a small snippet of the fictional tv show 'Badge of Honour' featuring a dedication.
