I’m not altogether sure what it says about our society at large and the kind of responsibility we take for our own actions, when a child can burn down his home and the explanation that is given is, “Beavis made me do it.”
Not to underestimate the Vulcan death-grip like hold those two cartoon idiots have us under, I realize that when Beavis and Butthead join a sadist cult, we’re all going to hell. Mike Judge has just that much power.

You might be wondering what this has to do with David Fincher’s Fight Club. It’s a good question, but frankly speaks volumes about your faith in me. For shame people. For shame.
Actually it relates like this.
There was supposed to be a scene in the film where Brad Pitt’s character recites an actual workable recipe for homemade explosives. However, in the interest of public safety, (and fearing that some young impressionable hooligan will blow his kneecaps off) the producers and Fincher decided to use a ‘dud’ recipe instead.

If you’re a fan of Etymology, you probably already know that the names Tyler and Durden were derived from two Scottish terms.
‘Tyler’ meaning a mason lodges doorkeeper, and ‘Durden’ meaning a tumult, a severe
scolding, a noisy sport or a blow. So, in essence, Tyler opens the door to a strange and physically dangerous world for Jack.
