Dan Brown had his sights on the bigger screen, so he turned down the bid. Only a few months later, the rights were bought by Sony Pictures for a cool 6 million dollars.
Ron Howard always wanted Audrey Tantou for the role of Sophie, but the actress was hard to convince. It is said that she didn't want to audition for the role because she thought she was too young for the part. Thank god for the persuasive tenacity of little Opie Cunningham.
