Good night, and Good Luck is co-written and directed by none other than George Clooney. Mr. Clooney has stated that he opted to use actual archival footage of Joseph McCarthy rather than cast someone to play his part, as a means to keep the film feeling
relevant and realistic. However, it was reported that when the film first previewed for test audiences, some audience members (who were not aware that it was actual footage) complained that the gentleman who played McCarthy was an obnoxious over-actor.
