“It’s sorta social. Demented and sad, but social, right?”

It could have been a whole different film. Two of the lead actors weren’t even hired to play the roles that they eventually played. Ally Sheedy (Allison) was originally cast as Claire (Molly Ringwald), Emilio Estevez (Andrew) was originally cast as John Bender (Judd Nelson). Confused yet? Not to worry, all the little brat packers eventually settled into their respective roles and ended up making a teen angst film that would characterize an entire generation.

Remember the joke? Well, remember the half a joke? The one that Judd Nelson starts to tell as he is climbing dangerously in the ceiling towards the library. Weren’t you just so disappointed that we never got to hear the punch line? Turns out folks, we were scammed, hornswoggled, taken out for dinner and shafted with the bill. There was no punch line, because there was no joke. Judd Nelson merely ad libbed that little anecdote and now we will never know what the naked woman was going to do with the 2 foot salami and the poodle. Then again, maybe that’s not such a bad thing.
