The best scenes in a movie are not always scripted. Sometimes they occur when the actor ad libs a line, the director leaves the camera rolling for a few extra minutes, the editor shaves off some unnecessary dialogue or sometimes, the best scenes come from one person's need to end the scene...as-quickly-as-possible.
You must remember the hilarious scene at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The one that has Indy fighting the swordsman in black in Cairo. Perhaps what you didn't know was that the scene you saw on screen is a lot different than what was in the script. Initially, Indy was supposed to engage the swordsman in a duel, a rather lengthy duel with a lot of sword play. However, when it came time to film the scene, Mr. Ford (and when you tread on a famous person's 'personal' business, it's always a good idea to call them Mr.) was suffering from a terrible case of diarrhea. So he asked Mr. Spielberg (it's always a good idea to call him Mr.)if there was any way they could trim down the scene. Mr. Spielberg jokingly said that the only way to do that would be to have Indy just take out his gun and shoot the swordsman. And there you have it folks.
Writers Shmiters. Sometimes all you need is an irritable bowel condition and what comes out is magic. (Oh you know what I mean)
In 1973, Harrison Ford received a mere 500 a week for his role in American Graffiti. Today, he earns a staggering 25 million dollars per picture and is widely credited as the most bankable Hollywood actor in the world.
