D-Day. This famous day of World War II has been the subject of many a Hollywood film. Featured here are the posters for A BRIDGE TOO FAR and D-DAY: THE SIXTH OF JUNE. First of all, A BRIDGE TOO FAR features more stars than you can shake a stick at. This movie was virtually the last one of its kind – an all-star spectacular epic with numerous established stars. This type of movie went out of style by the start of the 1980s. Next we have D-DAY: THE SIXTH OF JUNE. which features sweeping artwork of the storming of the beaches. Of course, what would a Hollywood epic be without the intimate romance of a singular officer thrown in to make it more of a personal story. This poster was typical for war movies back in the day. |
