With the passing of Charlton Heston, Hollywood lost another iconic actor from the glory days. His legacy is the body of hugely popular films such as El Cid, Touch Of Evil, Planet Of The Apes, Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur. Known primarily for his biblical and historical epics, his work crossed all genres which made him extremely popular in his prime. However he is best remembered for his roles in the Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur. The latter won him the Oscar for Best Actor in 1960. Despite what you may think of his personal and political views he was an actor of stature. Highlighted here is the beautiful linen-backed French poster for Ben-Hur depicting the climatic chariot race. The hues of green, yellow and orange make for a very bold colourful poster. If you have an interest in foreign posters this is definitely one for the collection. |
